Pleasure Pier at Galveston, Texas

The family and I spent the Labor Day weekend in Galveston, Texas. It was a delightful four day weekend starting on Friday, August 31, 2012. We drove down U.S. Interstate Highway 45 from Dallas to through Houston.

We stopped for a little lunch and art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

We stayed at the Galveston Hilton. I splurged on my darling wife and got us the presidential suite. It was a very nice room with king-size bed and living area. Too bad it did not have a microwave.

I spent most of my time with the family at the beach and out to eat. I did sneak away for jogging and a little cemetery photography. I knew better than to go shooting at noon, but that was the only time I could get away. Maybe next time I’ll get some early morning or evening shots.

A Day in Dealey Plaza https://mrholga.com/2010/11/a-day-in-dealey-plaza/ Mon, 22 Nov 2010 12:12:51 +0000 http://www.mrholga.com/?p=76 Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas (Nov. 22, 2010)
Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas (Nov. 22, 2010)

I spent most of the day in Dealey Plaza outside the Texas School Book Depository (now The Sixth Floor Museum) this Monday, November 22, 2010. I took time lapse photos in various locations most of the day. I started out before 7 a.m. and left sometime around 2 p.m. Lucky for me I remembered to pack a lunch.

I did not know really what to expect, but right on queue a crowd of people showed up around noon time on the north side of Dealey Plaza. There were people all over the place with film crews, radio stations and mounted Dallas Police Officers.

I even spent some time on the railway bridge. This is a great spot for photographing BN&SF, Union Pacific, Amtrack and Dallas Area Rapid Transit trains.

Not sure if I would do this again. The crowd was great, but I need more interest in the photos. My Holga that day was set on B for blurry. All my Holga shots came out bad.

I haven’t yet had time to compile the time lapse photos. I should have it done by Nov. 22, 2011. I have a Henry Mancini song that would go great with fast moving scenes.
